England have reached the Euro 2024 final after a sensational late 2-1 win over the Netherlands.

Aston Villa's Ollie Watkins wrote himself in Three Lions folklore after emerging from the bench to score a dramatic 91st-minute winner.

The striker hadn't featured in the tournament since the 1-1 draw with Denmark but came on for Harry Kane to down the Dutch.

The brave and inspiring substitution paid off big for Gareth Southgate, who has now steered England into a second successive Euro final where his side will battle Spain in Berlin on Sunday.

    Spain await

Well, now that the dust has settled, let's take a look at Spain.

England know how tough the final is going to be on Sunday.

La Roja have been the best team at Euro 2024 so far and have won every single one of their games at the tournament.

And they were able to impressively beat former world champions France to book a place in Berlin last night.

Both on and off the ball, Luis de la Fuente's side are uniform and know exactly what to do in their role.

The Three Lions are going to have to be at the top of their game, all game, if they want to get their hands on the trophy.

    More from Southgate

Speaking to ITV Sport, England boss Gareth Southgate said: "It has to be the best [moment].

"It's another landmark but we played well throughout the game. It was complicated. They kept changing so we had to change.

"It was so special at the end.

"If you look at the numbers. It was like we were playing away but it wasn't like that with the noise."

On Phil Foden, Southgate continued: "That's as well as he's played in an England shirt and he had a huge influence on the game."

And on the substitutes coming on to win the game, he said: "Sometimes it can work that way.

"The most important thing is all of the squad can come into the game.

"Their attitudes have been exemplary and I'm so happy for Ollie."

    'A very special night'

England manager Gareth Southgate has reacted to his side securing. a spot in the tournament showpiece this weekend.

He told the BBC: "A very special night and hopefully very special for everyone at home. I thought our performance was really good.

"You knew with the Netherlands they have more quality so they can punish you like they did, but there's more opportunity to play.

"Our midfield players, Foden especially, were key finding space and they had to keep changing what they were doing.

"Bukayo, did an immense job. He started as a wing-back and he defended as a winger at times - it was one of those nights that everyone had to be flexible."

"We were happy with how Phil and Harry were playing. We have got a good bench, we had freshness and we know that Ollie can make those runs down the side.

"This is what we came here to do and we have been building for two years.

"We have got to enjoy tonight, but equally it is such a quick turn around and we have a day less than the team who have been the best the tournament."

    'It was in slow motion'

Ollie Watkins has relived the moment he scored the winner.

He said: "I'm lost for words really. When you score there are emotions that come through your body but this is just a different feeling.

"It was in slow motion when I ran to celebrate with the boys.

"I didn’t want to get off the pitch at the end, I wanted to soak it all in as it doesn’t happen often.

"The ball came into me, hold up is not the strongest side of my game but the goal was my bread and butter.

"I said to Cole Palmer we were both going to go on the pitch and he would set me up and it happened.

"You don’t get that opportunity very often and I had to be greedy and take the shot.

"I don’t think I have hit the ball so sweet like that before."

    What dreams are made of

England's hero Ollie Watkins has been speaking in his post-match press conference.

"I never thought I’d be playing in the Euros for England," he said.

"You can dream but I am a realist, I just take by day and one step at a time. I was just focused on getting back into the first team at Exeter!

"I have put a lot of work to get to this point, not just this season. I will enjoy every moment.

"Recently I have obviously got a bit frustrated. I don’t like to be on the bench, I have had the best season of my career.

"A few friends messaged me and said be patient and the amount of people who messaged me tonight saying I would score when I come on was ridiculous.

"Hopefully they can do the same for the final or give me the lottery numbers."

    Very angry Virgil

From a Dutch point of view, it's heartbreak.

Even more so, considering they have been left raging at the referee.

And that is likely due to the penalty given in the first half.

Speaking after the game, Virgil van Dijk said: "It says it all that the ref went in quite quickly after the game and had no time to shake his hand."

    Opinions on Spain?

Harry Kane then looked ahead to the final against Spain.

"Another unbelievably tough game," Kane said. "There's one more game to make history. That's what we're excited about.

"It's been a tough journey but there's one more. 90 minutes, 120, penalties, whatever it takes we'll be there.

    "I'm looking forward to it."

    'I'm so proud'

England captain Harry Kane has given his thoughts on the incredible scenes at Signal Iduna Park tonight.

He told ITV Sport: "History made. Amazing achievement.

"I'm so proud of everyone. Every player, every member of staff, I'm so proud of them.

"To do what we've done away from home is really special. There's that feeling there's one more left and we need to do that on Sunday."

"We talk about being ready. We're a big team at being ready. When it matters, you might get five minutes, one minute, but you can make a difference, you can win us a tournament.

"He [Watkins] has been waiting, he's been patient. What he did was outstanding and he deserves it."

    Predicting the future

Ollie Watkins remarkably predicted England's winning goal when speaking to Cole Palmer before the game.

He revealed post-match: "Iswearon my kids' life, I told Cole Palmer earlier today, we'd be coming on and he'd set me up and I'd score.

    "And it happened."

    Jude's reaction

Jude Bellingham has been speaking to talkSPORT after England's last-gasp winner in Dortmund.

"You've got to live these moments and enjoy these moments," he said. "There's a lot of sacrifice that comes into these games.

"We're a team that's growing. I think you can see the progression is the most important thing.

"The squad is so important. Not just the XI, not just the two or three who score goals.

"It's the 26/27 with Tom Heaton that come every day, push each other to the limits, show the right professionalism, enjoy each other's company and are willing to be a part of the team.

"Because those are the moments... those players who aren't playing still have the right mentality have got their reward today."
